Microsoft、OEMパートナーに対してWindows 8のRTM版を提供開始
特定の開発者および企業に対する最終版の提供開始日も発表
米Microsoft Corporationは1日（現地時間）、Windows 8のRTM（Release to Manufacturing）版をリリースしたことを発表した。これは、Windows 8を搭載したパソコンやデバイスを製造する企業に対して提供される。
Windows 8の一般ユーザー向けの提供は、事前の告知通り10月26日が予定されている。なお、特定の開発者および企業に対しては、以下のスケジュールでWindows 8の最終版の提供が開始される。
- 8月15日：MSDN サブスクリプション会員の開発者
- 8月15日：TechNet サブスクリプション会員の開発者
- 8月16日：ソフトウェアアシュアランス契約企業
- 8月16日：マイクロソフト パートナーネットワーク契約企業
- 8月20日：マイクロソフト アクションパック ソリューション プロバイダー契約企業
- 9月1日：マイクロソフト ボリューム ライセンス契約企業
また同日、Windows Server 2012のRTM版の完成も発表されている。
